Ferebee-Hope Elementary School has been closed since 2013 but is scheduled to be leased out to a charter school in 2020. The school served 215 students in grades pre-kindergarten through 5th grade and was closed due to declining enrollment. The goal of the design is to create a space that supports the needs of special needs students and students in the general education department. This inclusive school will focus on the concept of well-being and defining stimulating environments in all areas of the educational space. Studies have shown that both general and special education students thrive when put into the same learning space. The goal of this design will be to create a flexible learning environment fully equipped to meet any child’s needs, where special education and general education student’s studiousness and creativity thrive.
